We make TallyTill, so read this knowing where it comes from. What we can offer instead of neutrality is checkability: every claim about Loyverse below comes from Loyverse's own pages, and we checked the pricing on 11 September 2026. Loyverse ships changes like anyone else — verify anything that will drive your decision.
You searched for a Loyverse alternative, which usually means one of two things. Either you are happy with Loyverse and something specific is in your way, or you are shopping and want to know what the free tier costs you later. This page is about the second thing, from one particular angle: what happens when nobody is standing at the till.
First, where Loyverse earns its reputation
Loyverse is not a weak product, and for a lot of readers it is the right answer. We would rather say so plainly than have you find out from somebody else.
The free tier is genuinely generous. Unlimited products, unlimited stores, stock tracking that counts down as you sell, low-stock alerts, and an app that works on phones and tablets. There is no per-location software fee. Plenty of small shops run on it for years and never pay a cent.
It runs on iPhone and iPad. TallyTill does not. We have no iOS build at all — Android tablets and phones, or Chrome in a browser. For an Apple-equipped merchant that alone can end the conversation, and it is a genuine gap on our side rather than a positioning choice.
Employees, shifts and loyalty. Loyverse has a staff module and a customer loyalty programme. We have a manager PIN. That is the whole of our staff model, on purpose, because our till is usually not staffed.
So the case for looking elsewhere is not "Loyverse is bad" or "escape the contract" — it is month to month, like us. It is narrower than that.
The structural difference: a counter, or no counter
Loyverse is a cashier's till. Somebody stands behind it, taps the items, and takes the money. Everything about it is shaped by that assumption, and it is very good at it.
TallyTill is built the other way round: the customer rings themselves up and pays, whether or not anyone is there. A fridge of eggs at the end of a lane. A rack of bouquets. A shelf in an office lobby. A campground store at six in the morning.
That is not a feature Loyverse is missing from a list. It is a different product. If you want a self-serve lane on Loyverse, there isn't one to turn on.
Two consequences follow, and they are the ones worth your attention.
It changes what "runs out of stock" costs you
When a person is behind the counter, a wrong stock number is an inconvenience — they can see the shelf. When nobody is there, the count on the screen is the shelf as far as the customer is concerned, and a customer who taps something that isn't there walks away.
Loyverse's own help centre is straightforward about what its app does when the connection drops: stock levels and negative-stock alerts are not displayed offline, even when those features are switched on. That is a reasonable choice for a staffed counter — the cashier is right there. At an unattended stand with a weak signal, it means the one number that needed to be visible isn't.
It changes who gets to see the history
This is the part that costs money, so it deserves a plain number.
On Loyverse, the free tier tracks stock. What sits behind the paid Advanced Inventory add-on is the record of what happened to it: purchase orders and the inventory valuation report. Loyverse's pricing page lists that at $25 USD/month per store, or $250 a year, with a 14-day trial. Their Employee Management add-on is the same price again, and Unlimited Sales History is $5 a month on top.
On TallyTill every stock movement is recorded on every plan: what changed, by how much, why, and who did it — a sale, a count you typed, a delivery, a transfer between your sites, or a void putting stock back. The sale's own time and the time it reached us are kept apart, so an evening spent offline lands in the right place on the timeline rather than all at once the next morning.
One honest limit on our side. Our stock report values what you hold at your selling prices — retail value. It is not what the stock cost you. A unit cost can come across when you import a catalog, but nothing here reports on it yet: no cost of goods, no margin. If a valuation at cost is what you actually need, Loyverse's paid add-on does that and we do not.
What else we do not have
The rest of the list, so you are not surprised by it later:
- No modifiers. No "no onions", no priced options. If you sell prepared food to order, stop reading — this is the wrong product for you.
- No purchase orders or suppliers. Loyverse's add-on has them. Most growers have a harvest rather than a purchase order, which is why we built intake instead, but if you buy stock in from suppliers you will feel this.
- No stocktake session. You edit counts one product at a time. Walking the shop with a sheet and saving once does not exist yet. Loyverse's paid add-on has it.
- No iOS.
What we have that a stand actually uses
- Self-checkout, attended or not, on a phone or tablet you already own — no proprietary kiosk, no per-lane kiosk fee.
- Camera checkout. Scan a barcode, or snap a photo and AI identifies the item against your own catalog — which is how you ring up a jar of jam, a bunch of dahlias or a tray of seedlings that has no barcode and never will.
- Sell by weight with a price per pound or kilo, keyed on the phone or read from a scale you already own — and pre-weighed packages need no scale at the counter at all.
- One tile, several sizes; boxes that draw down the products inside them; a second price list for wholesale, switched at the counter behind the manager PIN.
- Stock at more than one place — the walk-in, the stand, Saturday's booth — with transfers that record both ends.
- A daily email naming what is low and what is gone, so the restock run is a list.
- Ask your own assistant. Connect Claude or ChatGPT with a read-only token and ask what is running low. Included on every plan; email support to have it switched on.
All of it on every plan, including the free one. Paid plans lower the per-sale fee on card takings; nothing above is held back for an upgrade.
So: which one
Stay on Loyverse if a person works your counter, if you are on iPads, if you need modifiers or purchase orders, or if you need integrations we do not yet support. Those are real reasons and we would give you the same advice on the phone.
Look at us if the till spends most of its day with nobody behind it, if what you sell has no barcode, if you sell by weight, or if the stock record is something you want to read without a second subscription.
If you are somewhere in the middle — a staffed booth on Saturday and an honor shelf the rest of the week — the free plan costs nothing to find out with, and there is no card to enter and no date it expires.
