What the numbers say
In 2021, Franklin County's rent was 1.1 times the Massachusetts average and 2.6 times the US average.
It is the 2nd highest of the 3 Massachusetts counties NASS published for 2021.
From 2017 to 2021 it rose 51.1%, from $22.50 to $34 an acre.
Gaps are years with no separate Franklin figure: NASS ran no county survey in 2018, in 2023, 2024, 2025 and 2026 it combined Franklin into "other counties", and NASS had no figure available in 2019 and 2022. Nothing is filled in.

What this measures
NASS asks farm operators what they pay in cash rent per acre, separately for irrigated cropland, non-irrigated cropland and pasture. State figures come out at the end of July; county figures follow in August. When too few farms in a county answer, NASS combines that county with others and publishes one "other counties" figure, so some counties have no figure of their own.
