What the numbers say
- Midwest's average retail price is 0.9 times the US average.
- Since March 1986 it has risen 361.9%, from $0.19 to $0.87 a pound.
- Gaps are months with no Midwest figure: BLS had no figure available in January 1987, February 1987, April 2020, September 2020 and December 2020, and BLS never collected the figure in October 2025 (federal shutdown). Nothing is filled in.
