What the numbers say
- South's average retail price is the same as the US average.
- Since October 2016 it has risen 33.9%, from $0.77 to $1.03 a pound.
- Gaps are months with no South figure: BLS had no figure available in March 2020, April 2020, May 2020 and June 2020, and BLS never collected the figure in October 2025 (federal shutdown). Nothing is filled in.
The line breaks at March 2020, April 2020, May 2020, June 2020, October 2025: BLS collected no prices in those months.
