What the numbers say
- South's average retail price is the same as the US average.
- Since January 1989 it has risen 257.7%, from $3.82 to $13.65 a pound.
- Gaps are months with no South figure: BLS had no figure available in May 2005, June 2005, July 2005, August 2005, September 2005, October 2005 and November 2005, and BLS never collected the figure in October 2025 (federal shutdown). Nothing is filled in.
The line breaks at July 2005, August 2005, September 2005, October 2005, November 2005, October 2025: BLS collected no prices in those months.
